SPADE LUGS

Due to the large spade shaft diameter ( 8 mm ) of the current production Monopoles®; a special spade lug had to be designed to fit their large conducting surface areas. While at the same time the lug had to accommodate the largest Audiophile cables¹ and secure the conducting wires into the spade  wire bucket with similar or more force than could be achieved with the M11 bare wire facility.

This was realized in the two designs of spade lugs for the Monopoles®. The spade lugs are Cast in FineSilver³ and then Silver Plated( 11.0+ microns ). They provide the ultimate transfer medium for getting the signal from the Monopole® to the audio wire.

The two designs were designated FM2 and FM3.

The FM2 will fit the M11 and M14 series of Monopoles® while

the FM3 will fit the M13 Monopole®⁵ .

Identical in topology to the FM21; Both FM2 and FM3 incorporate the same compression engine to hold the cable core in place.

The FM3 will also fit the M11 and M14 Monopoles®. The FM2 will not fit the  M13  Monopole® because of its shorter length.

FM27

A custom varient that evolved from the FM20.
Now utilised by AudioQuest in their William E Low Signature cables
and
CableResearchLab in all their speaker cable series.

Machined from solid Pure Copper Billet ( Alloy C11000   99.94& Pure Copper ) and then electroplated with 11 microns of Silver.  The spade comes in two variants, defined by their tong widths.
W7 fits standard binding posts with 1/4 inch shafts while W10 fits binding posts with 10mm shafts.
The FM27 Spade designs are a an evolution to excellence of over 24 years of design.
Wire is held in place with 2 x M6 SS304 Grub Screws.

FM21

The FM21 Spade Lug will fit most commercial binding posts due to its 7.2mm fork-mouth. It is  fabricated from Pure Copper ) 3N ) and then Silver plated.  The underside of the spade is perfectly flat and the tongs are 4.5mm thick and will accept cabling up to '3' gauge;  It will fit the M16 Monopole® and all standard commercial bare binding posts on loudspeakers and amplifiers that have a 1/4" shank ( 6.35mm )
The design is specifically for crimping the cable into the spade body. This allows for the most effective transmission of audio signal from wire cores through to the binding post.

FM20

Designed to fit terminal strip where an 11mm width is paramount. Also manufactured from Pure Copper and Silver Plated as the rest of the spades.  The FM20 enables the utilisation of an excellent spade to accommodate the best speaker cable wires. The design is specifically for crimping the cable into the spade body. This allows for the most effective transmission of audio signal from wire cores through to the terminal strip.

The FM2 and FM3 offer over 720mm² of surface area for the transfer of the Audio Signal to the Audio Cable. The FM2 is over 1200mm² in surface area while the FM3 is over 1800mm² in surface area. The wire buckets on both spade lugs are over 275mm² in surface area.
