TomCatTM TC-14

TC-14

The TC-14 was designed in response to requests for a solderable RCA socket // chassis receptor.
As usual with a perousal of what is available the competition is  all Brass.
Irrespective of the amount of the percentage of Copper in a Brass connector and also the supposed purity of that Copper used in your Brass connector, in the end if it is made of Brass it will have the conductivity of Brass and will sound like Brass. Brass is Brass.
And the conductivity of Brass is nominally 25% that of Copper . The same as Nickel.
The reasons Brass is used in Audio Appliances is that it is cheap; it is easy to machine and it is relatively hard.
Copper's great disadvantage is that it is expensive and very difficult to machine and relatively soft and requiring more metal per connector to give it strength.
But it knocks the socks off Brass for performance and all the holy grails sought by audiophiles in allowing greater detail to be reproduced and greater involvement with the music being listened to become a reality when the component is made from pure copper.

The TomCatTM TC-14 is fabricated from   High Conductivity Oxygen Free Copper; which is 99.94%+ pure Copper.
It is then Electroplated with 8.0+ microns of Silver and optionally with 2.0+ microns of pure Gold.

The  TomCatTM TC-14 uses a cam lobe for securing the return wire. This allows for either securing the return wire with high compression of a crimp connection or soldered.  The usual Bocchino Audio Design effects are present: Drop in the noise floor and a more immediate involvement with the music, lack of grain and no edginess to CD's; In fact CD's sound almost analogue. As for LP's Nirvana!

The Signal capsule is a scaled down version of the TC-3.
While using the same design for the capture of the signal pin in the RCA inserted; the Signal wire is actually soldered into the body of the Signal capsule.
Every effort has been taken to minimise the distance the signal has to transit and to maximise the signal transfer surface area for greater efficiency in the transfer of the signal from one interface to another.

A Teflon shoulder washer holds the TC-14 into the appliance chassis and two electroplated  Brass locking nuts secure a slip ring at the exterior to secure the TC-14 with a considerable force so as to minimise any vibrations from the chassis interfering with the efficient transit of the signal.
This method of mounting not only ensures excellent mechanical rigidity for the TC-14 but also electrically isolates it from the appliance chassis onto which it is mounted.
( Brass locking nuts are electroplated with gold on silver identical to the TC-14 ).

As you can see; every possible attention to detail that could be included to make an excellent RCA socket // chassis receptor has been included in the TC-14.

TC-14 TomCatTM can be spaced at a minimum of 19mm centers though 25mm centers is recommended.

Note 1
Ensure that your audio appliance has been switched off and that the power lead has been removed from the mains socket and if it can be removed from the audio appliance then do so ( where it is a push-fit chord ).
Select the location for the cutting of the mounting hole. Ensure that you have the correct mounting hole kit.
Make sure also that there is enough room inside the appliance for the respective polarity cylinders in TomCatTM to be easily accessible for the insertion of the respective wires.
After cutting your 14 mm holes insert your TC-14 TomCatTM  with the 'RCA' nose pointing outwards and the isolation insulators installed.
Tighten TomCatTM  into place with the locking nuts supplied and then insert the internal wires.
With both locking nuts TomCatTM  will install across an interface thickness of 2.8mm // with one single locking nut TomCatTM will install across an interface thickness of 4mm maximum
